Summer 2021 Newsletter

Hello students!

Summer is heating up. We hope everyone is staying cool and safe during your fourth of July weekend! As a reminder, we will be closed in observance of Independence Day on Saturday, July 3rd and Monday, July 5th. Classes will resume as usual on Tuesday.

We have a lot going on for this update. Lets get started!

New Mask policy

Perhaps the biggest change this update is our change to our mask policy. With Walworth county moving to Phase 4 of the reopening, we are no longer requiring vaccinated individuals to wear masks in class. You can read the entire post with all the details here: Flying Dragons blog.

The biggest change, aside from your smiling faces, will the the reintroduction of some of our Judo techniques. Please take a moment to remove any large or hoop earrings before class. As we begin reintroducing throws and pins, jewelry can easily become caught and tear. We want to make classes as safe as possible.

Changes to Tuesday night Aikido

During the pandemic we studied Aikido with Sensei Bob Garza hosted Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday Zoom Aikido classes. Pandemic restrictions are loosening, and Sensei Garza is working on re-opening his Dojo in Chicagoland, and he is no longer available to teach via Zoom on Tuesday nights. As a result, we are exploring re-starting our Tuesday night Judo class (Tuesday nights from 7-8 PM). Please leave your feedback regarding Tuesday night Judo here.

Thursday night and Saturday afternoon Aikido will be resuming as normal after Sensei Garza’s Dojo reopens (hopefully after the 4th of July)

Upcoming Events

Summer is pretty packed this year! Here’s the rundown so you can mark your calendar.

The 4th of July

The 4th falls on a Sunday this year. Therefor, we will be closed on the 3rd, and the 5th. Classes will resume as normal on the 6th. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy the fireworks!

Just 3 short weeks away!
Test will be starting at 9 AM for higher ranks, and lower ranks and white belt start time will be determined as we get closer to the test.
